Dancers will learn ballet movements, expression, musical understanding, rhythm, coordination, positions, and terminology for the level of the class they are enrolled in. Dancers will be introduced to skills and exercises at barre and center, that focus on strength and execution. Dancers will build upon all exercises learned through each level from beginner to advanced ballet.
POINTE
An advanced form of ballet dance that is performed on the tips of the toes through the use of specific shoes that must be approved and fitted by a professional. Dancers must be enrolled in ballet class and approved for this class by our ballet instructors before enrolling in the class. Pointe is an extension of our advanced ballet class, which is the foundation of ballet technique.
Dancers will learn tap-rhythm, timing, and terminology. Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style, and sound. Tap classes consist of warm-up, center, across the floor, and various small combinations in center. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. Dancers will learn combinations to all types of music.
Jazz class will focus on learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality and developing complex rhythms and patterns through across the floor and center progressions. Dancers will be exposed to various styles of jazz such as Contemporary, and Broadway to help develop a well-rounded dancer. This class includes warm-up, across the floor, and short combinations to a variety of music.
Dancers in combination classes will be introduced and learn both styles/genres for the combination class they are in, (ballet/tap, ballet/tumble, hip hop/jazz) terminology and skills. The overall emphasis is on having fun while learning coordination, rhythm, musical counting, self-confidence, development, and following directions. Dancers will be exposed to multiple movements and musical styles, and learn level and age appropriate combinations. Some classes incorporate the use of props such as hats, canes, scarves, and lots of imagination!
ME & MY GROWN UP
Creative movement class for parent and dancer ages 1 1/2 to 2 years old.
Hip Hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing. Hip Hop dance requires dancers to have the strength and stamina to successfully perform moves. This class consists of warm-up with stretches, conditioning moves to strengthen the body, across the floor and center combinations to a variety of appropriate hip hop music.
TRU TINY MOVERS
Ballet movement and fundamentals for dancers age 2 to 2 1/2
Lyrical combinations will incorporate the technical elements of ballet with jazz. Dancers will learn how to express a wide range of emotions through their dance based on musical interpretation. Warm-up will focus on improving flexibility, extensions, core strength, and balance. Dancers will learn movements in center, across the floor, and in routine combinations.
Drill Prep class focuses on preparing the dancer for drill team tryouts. This class includes stretching to encourage flexibility, jazz technique, field routine techniques, kick line skills, and a variety of combinations that include pom, hip hop, military, contemporary, and lyrical.
This is a full body strength and core conditioning class utilizing a variety of exercises and exercise equipment (at times). This class will target every muscle group while maintaining proper posture and technique followed by floor work and a complete body stretch to help flexibility, strengthen, and build proper technique for each dancer.
TRU FIT has more emphasis on cross training to help build strength & endurance, using a variety of dance genres and patterns for both high and low impact movements. This class is for dancers working on increasing their abilities and endurance levels to maximize their performance & skills execution.
It is a fusion of ballet, jazz, and modern dance, and usually contains an emotional journey, or story. Combinations include improv, and technical elements in ballet, jazz, and modern.
Leaps and turns is a class created for the serious dancer who wishes to give extra attention to improving their technique. This class will focus on the proper execution of basic to advanced leaps and turns and will include leap combinations and turn sequences.
Musical Theatre is a theatrical dance style that includes dance technique and acting to songs from broadways and musicals. This class will focus on a specific theme each month, practice scripts, song, and dance, as well as tips for auditioning.
These class are designed for adults ages 18+ and focuses on a variety of dance styles and fitness. The main emphasis for this class is to have fun while getting fit. These class move at the pace of the participants and includes styles in ballet, jazz, tap, and LaBlast fitness.
